BANGALORE, INDIA: IBM is planning to reduce its workforce across the globe. Though IBM has not officially confirmed the news or the numbers, Alliance@IBM, an IBM Employees' Union site, has pegged it close to 2,500 in the US, and several other reports are pointing towards a much higher number, even upto 8,000 worldwide.
IBM has filed a worker adjustment and retraining notification, WARN, with the New York State Department of Labor recently with regards to this. The company might also consider diversifying a few non performing units under its belt.
