YouTube to roll out paid subscription model this week?

The channels could offer original content, including television shows and films and might be priced at $1.99 per month
BANGALORE, INDIA: Apparently, YouTube is contemplating introducing a paid service for select channels by this week, if some reports were anything to go by.
The service would offer a la carte subscriptions for 50 specialist video channels on YouTube, stated the Financial Times.
youtube-wallpaperIt quoted people familiar with the plan to report that each channel would be priced at $1.99 per month and that these channels could offer original content, including television shows and films.
It emerges even YouTube said that it was introspecting on creating a subscription-based platform to offer more great content to users and create monetization opportunities for content producers, beyond its existing rentals and advertising-based models.
It is yet to be confirmed how much the subscription packages would be, though.
